Colne Valley Tandoori Restaurant
With its fresh, modern look and a
revamped menu, the Colne Valley Tandoori Restaurant and take-away,
has thrived at 110, High Street, Earls Colne for over 20 years.
The restaurant’s refurbishment includes new lighting and decor, air conditioning, modern cloakrooms and a new bar area – all giving the restaurant a bright and contemporary atmosphere.
Customers can expect a few surprises on the menu too, thanks to restaurant manager Hasan Chowdhurry who has worked closely with chef, Abdul Goffer Khan to introduce a range of new dishes from Bangladeshi and southern Indian cuisine. Appetisers such as Hara Kebab – spinach and fenugreek patties filled with cheese, onion and coriander and Chingri Mirch – lightly spiced prawns served in a baked green pepper; alongside new main dishes such as Hariali Green Chicken Tikka – cooked with garlic, green chilli, coriander, cream and spinach or Shahi King Prawn with asparagus, carrot, baby corn and coriander. Firm favourites such as Chicken Tikka Masalla, Korma and the popular Balti Set Meal remain – all complemented by a new range of specially selected wines.

The Lion
This 14th century Tudor Style pub stands at the top of the High Street on the right hand side as you head towards Halstead.
At one time the public bar which is at the front was a stilted building
and used to house the indoor market.
Situated on the main street in Earls Colne. The premises are now occupied
by Jon Helps & his team, who offer a warm welcome whether you´re
just out for a quick pint or dining with friends. The interior is
also warm and welcoming, with tasteful traditional furnishings and
decor. There are always three real ales on tap including Greene King
IPA &
Adnams, plus a changing guest ale. A good range of lagers, stout, cider,
wines and spirits can also be found at our reputable public house &
restaurant.
Excellent hot and cold food is available from either the bar or la carte menus every day, we advise booking for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch.
