River Colne Countryside Project
Those lucky enough to live, work or visit the Colne Valley will know what a fine place it is. The River Colne Countryside Project (RCCP) has been working with residents and those with a professional interest in the countryside for many years to make it an even better place for people and wildlife.
Bat Hibernacula
The
River Colne Countryside Project has recently been converting second

winter.
How you can help the Colne Valley countryside
The RCCP undertakes a wide range of countryside management in the Colne valley. If you would like to get involved by volunteering in any of the following areas please contact the project officer:
- Practical conservation work. eg hedge and tree planting, wildlife habitat management and creation or public access improvement.
- Wildlife surveys. eg botanical, hedgerow or animal surveys.
- Identify suitable sites for wildlife, access or landscape improvements.
If you would like to help in these or any other ways then contact the Richard Parmee, RCCP project officer, by e-mail via this online form.
Walking
and riding in the Colne Valley
The RCCP has produced a series of walks and rides guides for routes throughout the valley. If you are interested in obtaining copies of these leaflets that cost between 30p and £1.75 then please contact the project officer.
How the River Colne Countryside Project can help you
The RCCP seeks to help local people make wildlife, landscape and access improvements throughout the valley from Colchester to Great Yeldham. It does this by supporting local people undertake environmental improvements, offering advice and identifying opportunities on wildlife issues and helping to secure grant funding to undertake projects.
The River Colne Countryside Project
The project is managed and funded as a partnership between Braintree District Council and Colchester Borough Council. It has a steering group made up of representatives of the two councils and agricultural and environmental interests.
